Manakau School

Debs 2016 Welcome Archived

Posted on 6 February 2017

It is with a great sense of pride that I represent our Manakau School community.  As of 2016, I begin my journey as Principal.  I look forward to continuing to develop our schools connection with Ngati Wehiwehi Marae and the wider school community.

Since being appointed I have only heard positive comments about Manakau School, and many people I know have connection here.

As I mentioned when I was welcomed onto our school. My early years were spent on dairy farms in Te Horo, Otaki and Manakau and I attended Waitohu School and Otaki College. It’s exciting for my family and I to be coming back here, to be part of the Manakau Community. When I was preparing for my interview,  I thought alot about who I would be representing. Our school connection with Ngati Wehiwehi is one that I will foster.
I acknowledge the work of the late Richard Orzeki as a member of the School Board, and hope that we will be able to have another iwi representative sitting on the board.

And finally, I know that our school has been built on connections with our families...some have strong historical links. My aim is to ensure we celebrate the traditions of the past while working to ensure the students who leave Manakau School are physically, emotionally, and academically equipped for life in the 21st Century.

I look forward to getting to know you.
